Description

A 6-hour CE course designed to enhance the participants’ understanding of the effects of trauma on individuals.  With large and small group discussions and activities the participants will learn how trauma has a lifelong effect on individuals. 

Hurt – Participants will learn how trauma affects the brain, and how that affects an individual’s cognitive, emotional, and social development. 

Heal – Participants will learn interventions to help individuals improve their skill levels.  Emotion management techniques and refraining from re-enactment will be a primary focus. 

Hope – Participants will gain information about providing tools to assist individuals to maintain a sense of success and hope for the future.  Participants will also gain insight into avoiding compassion fatigue and maintaining a healthy work life balance.

Beth Harmon

Beth is a Training Specialist at Cornerstones of Care. Her areas of expertise include recognizing behaviors as trauma symptoms, developing trauma informed interventions for these behaviors and working with children and adolescents suffering from adversity and trauma. Beth has presented twice at the Sanctuary Institute training symposium and many regional and local conferences.
